Today, Today, 'Twas a Very Nice Day

We spent today attempting to get to, in, and back home from Phoenix Park. This is from the entry.



Duncan gave me a flower for my hair earlier, so I gave him one too.



Here we are modeling our flowers.



This is Jordan and the dog he stole. It had been playing with some kids in the pond, and when it came near, Jordan just picked it up. I think the relaxed expression on the dog's face denotes how laid back everyone, including dogs, is here.

We experienced many of the Dublin bus system's little quirks today. For instance, our bus from City Center to Phoenix Park made one stop, and then promptly broke down-- menaing we had to squeeze two busses full of people onto one. Not only that, but some brilliant tourist decided that the best place for her rather large luggage would be on the hallway into the bus. Strangely, the Dubliners were largely nonchalant about having a huge bag blocking their way off the bus. Also, the bus driver had to yell at some schoolboys who came up and messed with the bus-- he sent them away screaming, which was highly amusing. He seemed to have enjoyed the task.

Also, our ride back from City Center was marked with a bit of the local color. I had to sit next to a local, who looked every part the hurly-burly Irishman (of the sort you would see out on the rugby field), sippin' away at a can of Budweiser and talking away, in the manner that a man who had been well inebriated since the time he got up would be. Nothing scary or dangerous... just interesting.

We walked, I think, about 536.2 miles today (1,295 in km, for those of you who use metric, and who are too lazy to double-check my conversion), and so when we got back to the apartments, we promptly crashed for a few minutes, then ate, then crashed some more, and as soon as I finish typing, we will... watch a movie, but then probably crash.

One great thing about Ireland is that, even though the food is generally pretty pricey (think €7.50 for a McDonald's meal), sandwiches of any type are generally quite cheap, filling, and tasty.
